The perpetual support provided by endowed scholarship funds is critical to our commitment of reducing the loan burden upon our medical students. Your gift to help support an existing scholarship endowment or to establish a new endowed scholarship fund will help us to meet this challenge and ensure the needs of today’s students and future generations to come.

Endowing Your Scholarship, the basics.
The minimum amount to endow a scholarship is $25,000. This can be donated all at once or scheduled over a 5 year period for your convenience. Once your scholarship fund reaches the $25,000 level it will start to earn interest and must wait an additional three years before it is given out to a student. This three year wait period allows your investment to grow and ensures that your scholarship will last in perpetuity. The Upstate Medical Alumni Finance Committee annually determines the amount of all scholarships and endowments available for expenditure. It is usually three to five percent.
