2. On-Line Career Advisory Network

We would like to invite you to join our Career Advisory Network, which gives current medical students the opportunity to connect with alumni, resident alumni, and local physicians. Whether you are a new resident who would like to share advice on the transition after commencement, or an experienced and established physician interested in connecting and recruiting medical students, your advice is invaluable.

Mentors will be included in our secure online Career Advisory Mentor Directory.  A login is required and only accessible by current mentor, medical students and alumni.

3. On-Campus Opportunities

The Upstate Norton College of Medicine is looking for Alumni who are interested in teaching medical students. Experienced clinicians are especially welcome. There are a number of different opportunities with varying time commitments. Most run periodically during the academic year which begins in August. Here are a few examples:

• Practice of Medicine (POM) Mentor: Guide small groups of pre-clinical students through history and physical skills.
• Foundations of Reasoning in Medicine (FRM) Mentor: Lead a group of 10 pre-clinical students through tabletop discussions.
• Longitudinal Clinical Preceptorship (LCP) Mentor: Host a medical student in a continuity clinic one afternoon every other week. Expose students to real world clinical practice and issues.

*There may be other opportunities that become available, in which case Alumni who have expressed interest will be contacted on an as-needed basis.
