2017 Scholarship Deadline: March 31, 2017

  • First-Time Visitor?  You must have a Medical Alumni username and password to use the "apply online" feature on our website.  Create your login here through the "New User Registration" form.  It usually takes 1-2 business days for us to process your request.
  • Essays:  Essays should be typed, single or double-spaced, and no longer than one page in length.  Please put the scholarship and your name on the top.
  • Unofficial Transcripts:  Unofficial transcripts can be obtained through your "My Upstate" page.  Go to: My upstate > Student Academic Information > Academic Transcript.  Right click to choose print and change the destination from printer to "Save as PDF".  Then simply attach it to the scholarship application of your choosing.  Please note that we cannot accept unofficial transcripts that have been saved or printed as a word document.  We must receive a copy of the transcript in its original form.  It is recommended that you save the document as a PDF or similar file.

Student Citizen Awards

Amount: $1,000 – multiple awards
Criteria: MS I, II, or III.  Students who have distinguished themselves as leaders and volunteers in the life of the Upstate campus and the greater Syracuse area.
Materials: 1) Submit a list of community activities or experiences you have been involved with during your time at Upstate. 2) Select one and write a brief essay describing how your involvement has had an impact on your life. Also illustrate how you feel this activity will influence you as a practicing physician during your career in medicine.

Medical Alumni Foundation Founders Scholarship

Criteria: MS I, II, or III.  Students in the top 50% of their class who have exhibited leadership qualities while in medical school and have potential for further involvement with Upstate Medical University upon graduation.  Child of an alumnus is a plus, but not mandatory.
Materials: 1) Submit a personal statement describing how your leadership qualities have had a positive impact at the College of Medicine and how you plan on remaining engaged with your alma mater after graduation. 2) Submit unofficial transcript.
